Ammar Al Beik, cinéaste, photographe


Né en 1972 à Damas, Ammar Al Beik habite et travaille aujourd’hui à Dubaï.
Internationalement reconnu pour son travail de cinéaste (documentaire et fiction), il a participé à de nombreux festivals internationaux dont ceux de Sao Paulo, d’Edimbourg, de Berlin et de Locarno et reçu des prix à Rotterdam, Venise, Tétouan, Brisbane (Australie) et Corée du Sud. En 2011, il a présenté The Sun’s Incubator, un film sur le Printemps arabe, à la 68e Mostra de Venise. Il a exposé ses photos à Damas, Beyrouth et Dubaï.

Born in 1972 in Damascus, Ammar Al Beik lives and works today in Dubai. Internationally recognised for his work as a filmmaker (both documentary and fiction), he has participated at numerous international festivals including Sao Paulo, Edinburgh, Berlin and Locarno and has received prizes in Rotterdam, Venice, Tétouan, Brisbane and in South Korea. In 2011 he presented The Sun’s Incubator, a film on the Arab Spring, to the 68th Mostra of Venice. His photos have been exhibited in Damascus, Beirut and Dubai.
