Naïssam Jalal, musicienne
Née à Paris des parents syriens, elle étudie la flûte traversière dès l’âge de 6 ans. Lorsqu’elle a 17 ans, la fanfare funk Tarace Boulba l’entraîne en tournée au Mali. À 19 ans, elle étudie le nay au Grand Institut de musique arabe de Damas en Syrie, puis travaille au Caire avec le maître violoniste Abdu Dagher. Elle joue avec les Egyptiens Fathi Salama El Dor El Awal et Bakash, puis avec des musiciens africains comme Tony Allen, Cheikh Tidiane Seck, Kiala, Fatoumata Diawara… Elle accompagne aussi des grands noms du jazz international comme Hamid Drake, Nelson Veras, Michael Blake, Hubert Dupont, ou du monde arabe tel le rappeur libanais Rayess Bek.
Born in Paris to Syrian parents, Naïssam Jalal studied classical flute at the age of 6. At 17, she graduated from the Commission française pour l’enseignement des mathématiques. The same year, the funk band Tarace Boulba take her on tour in Mali. At 19, she studied the nay (traditional Middle Eastern flute) at the Institute of Arabic Music in Damascus, Syria. Then she worked in Cairo with the master violinist Abdo Dagher. She played with Egyptians Fathi Salama, El Dor El Awal and Bakash and then with African musicians inclduing Tony Allen, Cheikh Tidiane Seck, Kiala, Fatoumata Diawara … She also has collaborated with great names of international jazz including Hamid Drake, Nelson Veras, Michael Blake, Hubert Dupont, and artists from the Arab world such as the Lebanese rapper Rayess Bek.
